Daimler Truck and UAW reach tentative agreement
Daimler Truck, a major commercial vehicle manufacturer, reached a tentative deal with the United Auto Workers union, and strike action has been called off. The new tentative contract covers over seven thousand works across three states. Daimler Truck has numerous production plants in North Carolina, which produce Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner trucks, and Western Star trucks, and has various distribution centers in Georgia and Tennessee. The contract is a four-year deal, and it will raise wages by more than 25% over these four years. Workers at each plant and distribution center will vote on the contract in the coming days. The company stated that it hopes employees approve of the tentative agreement and that approving the contract will be beneficial to both the UAW and the company.
