Apple agrees to first US labor deal
Apple and the International Association of Machinists union representing workers at the Towson, Maryland Apple store have agreed to a tentative labor deal, marking the first US labor contract for Apple's US workers. This agreement includes scheduling improvements, a 10% pay increase over three years, job protections, and severance guarantees. The deal now awaits ratification by the store's 85 rank-and-file members. This significant milestone comes despite the challenging and lengthy process many new unions face in reaching their first contract. The union aims to extend these gains to other Apple stores.
