Apple workers in online services division hit with layoffs
Apple announced earlier this week that the company will be cutting around one hundred employees in the online services division. The online services division is responsible for various Apple apps, such as the Books, Bookstore, and News. The layoffs will mainly affect engineering positions, and the company stated that the cuts are due to a change in the division’s focus. The Books and Bookstore apps are not seen as high priority due to fewer users compared to other Apple apps. Employees will have sixty days to seek out another position in other divisions at Apple, and they will be terminated if they are unable to find an opening within the time period.
