Stellantis sues UAW over potential worker strike action
Stellantis workers represented by the United Auto Workers union have threatened to take strike action due to a disagreement between the two parties about planned company investments. Stellantis committed to various electric vehicle investments in the contract reached with the UAW last fall, and the union states that the company broke its promise and is no longer supporting these investments. Stellantis countered that the planned investments depended on the demand for electric vehicles and the US economy, and the investments are still set to occur but have been delayed to a later date. Stellantis plans to start production on certain electric vehicles at a later date when market conditions are more favorable and demand increases. Stellantis has filed a lawsuit against the UAW, and the lawsuit is seeking for the UAW to be held responsible for any lost revenue and damages that occur if workers take strike action.
