Fired Delta flight attendant files lawsuit against airline for alleged anti-union efforts
A Delta flight attendant who was fired earlier this year has filed a lawsuit against the airline, claiming that he was fired for supporting unionization efforts. The flight attendant also stated that he was inappropriately touched during his flight attendant training, and other male flight attendant trainees in his class were also violated. Delta flight attendants and other staff members are not currently represented by a union, but the Association of Flight Attendants-Communications Workers of America, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union have been seeking to represent non-unionized Delta workers. Flight attendants and workers at other major US airlines have union representation, and the United States Congress has called for Delta to stay neutral during unionization efforts. Delta has not followed Congress’ recommendation and has had strong anti-union campaigns to discourage workers from unionizing.
