Samsung factory workers in Southern India return to work after month-long strike
Workers at a Samsung factory in Southern India have been on strike for the past month and will return to work this week. 1,800 factory workers were on strike, and the strike action was the largest labor disruption in the region in recent years. The factory produces refrigerators, washing machines, and televisions, and is one of two Samsung factories located in India. Workers took strike action to demand for recognition of union representation and wage increases. Workers are represented by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, and the union and factory management reached a settlement after participating in discussions. Factory management will write a letter addressing the demands of the union in the coming days.
