23andMe to cut two hundred workers and shut down antibody therapy development
DNA-testing company 23andMe will conduct layoffs that will reduce its workforce by forty percent, after facing various issues in recent years, including a major data leak. Last year, hackers broke into the 23andMe database and gained access to the personal information of over six million customers. The company’s share price has plummeted by seventy percent, and the cuts will hopefully put the company in a better financial position. 23andMe will also shut down current projects related to the development of therapy antibodies, as it is looking to focus primarily on DNA testing and research partnerships. The layoffs will impact two hundred workers, and those who are affected will receive severance pay.
