Labor Board Details Return to Office Plan in Memo to Staff
NLRB employees have been directed to return to in-person work starting March 3, ending the agency’s long-standing remote work policy. Despite a union contract allowing four days of telework, staff must be fully in-office by the end of March, a move the NLRB Professional Association says violates their agreement. The shift follows broader federal efforts to limit telework, with the Office of Personnel Management asserting that agencies have the authority to mandate in-office work. NLRB leadership claims the change offers a phased transition, but the union argues it will disrupt workers’ lives and weaken labor law enforcement. The union plans to challenge the policy through grievance and arbitration procedures.
