Trump cannot end union bargaining for federal workers, judge rules
A federal judge in San Francisco blocked former President Trump’s executive order that aimed to strip union bargaining rights from federal workers at 21 agencies. Judge James Donato ruled that the order likely violated the First Amendment by targeting unions seen as politically opposed to Trump. The preliminary injunction halts enforcement of the order while legal challenges continue. Donato's ruling expands on a similar decision from Washington, D.C., and affects departments including Veterans Affairs, State, and Labor. Unions argue the order was a retaliatory move and that most affected workers have no national security roles.
