Appeals court sends ISU scuffle over union membership back to labor board
An Illinois appeals court has sent a union dispute between Illinois State University and AFSCME Council 31 back to the state’s Education Labor Relations Board for further review. The case centers on whether five campus snack bar supervisors qualify as “supervisors” under labor law, which would make them ineligible for union membership. The court said the board failed to fully explain its reasoning and consider all relevant legal standards.
