Trump nominates Heritage Foundation economist as labor statistics chief
EJ Antoni, chief economist at the conservative Heritage Foundation, has been nominated to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics following the abrupt firing of commissioner Erika McEntarfer earlier this month. Antoni, a frequent critic of the agency’s data methods, would need Senate confirmation to take the role. His nomination comes amid concerns from economists and lawmakers over the potential politicization of the BLS after McEntarfer’s dismissal.
