New Seasons workers at store on Woodstock dump union
Workers at the New Seasons Market store in Portland’s Woodstock neighborhood narrowly voted to decertify their union in a 33-33 tie, which under federal labor law means the union is removed. The store had unionized in 2022 but failed to secure a first contract after more than two years of bargaining, with disputes over wages, paid time off, and management rights still unresolved. Union leaders say the company undermined negotiations by withholding raises from unionized employees that were granted to non-union staff. Despite the loss, the New Seasons Labor Union still represents more than 1,000 workers across 10 locations and recently affiliated with the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America.
