UPS is planning on equipping vehicles with air conditioning to protect workers
Negotiations between UPS and the Teamsters Union have led to the tentative agreement that UPS will equip its vehicles to have air conditioning and other protections against heat conditions. This agreement builds on the recent addition of cooling gear and advanced training for UPS employees. Heat waves and high summer temperatures put UPS employees at risk of sickness and hospitalization due to heat exposure. The Teamsters Union is focused on measures to protect against heat safety but is also demanding increased pay and decreasing pay gaps throughout the negotiations.
