Coventry Amazon workers will continue to strike for six more months
Workers at Amazon in Coventry, England have voted to continue to strike for another 6 months. This decision comes after Amazon workers went on strike for 19 days. The strike resulted in workers’ demands being met, and employee pay was increased and employee rights for parents were improved. However, the continuation of the strike is because workers are hoping to further increase pay and to gain union representation in company discussions. Currently, the GMB union is not a formally recognized trade union because it does not have over 50% of workers in the union. The union argues this is only due to Amazon hiring large numbers of new workers to ensure that the union would not get formally recognized.
