$70 Million Effort Seeks New Safety Net for Workers
In a massive effort to combat the negative impacts of globalization on the American worker, the Rockafeller Foundation has pledged $70 million in an effort to create a safety net for U.S. workers. The money will go first and foremost to the most needy and poorest employees, many of whom face the employment perils of outsourcing and other facets of globalization. In June, the Rockefeller Foundation and Time magazine sponsored a poll of 2,000 Americans to gauge the extent of economic insecurity. It found that 72 percent said Americans were less financially secure than 10 years ago.
