76 Arrested Protesting N.Y.U. Cutoff of Student Union
About eighty protestors, including the president of the AFL-CIO, were arrested outside New York University during a protest regarding the school's decision to end dealings with a union of graduate student teaching and research assistants. For many in the labor movement, NYU has become a symbol of organized labor's determination to expand its presence in academe. It is likely that there will now be a strike against the university.
