A Safeway employee loses 4 fingers, and the company faces OSHA violations and fines
Safeway faces $339,000 in fines after a workplace accident in a Denver milk packaging plant that amputated an employee’s fingers. The U.S. Department of Labor has given the company until September 13th to address the workplace safety violations cited by OSHA and pay the fines. OSHA’s area director in Denver said that Safeway “knew its equipment lacked safeguards, yet the company chose to let work continue without regard to workers’ safety.”
