Accents Effecting Pay
According to a new study by researchers at the University of Chicago and the University of Munich people with strong regional accents face a wage penalty of 20% compared to those who speak a standard accent. According to the data the penalty for having a strong regional accent is on par with the gender penalty in the workplace. The research also shows that people with foreign accents are at a higher risk for employment discrimination.
