Actors in Los Angeles file lawsuit against Actors' Equity over wage hike
In Los Angeles, a lawsuit that was filed on Saturday would like the 99-seat theater plan, which was passed in April, to be repealed. The plan, which was created by the Actors' Equity Association, states that theaters with fewer than 100 seats must pay unionized employees at least $9 an hour. Protestors of this plan believe that it is financially burdensome to smaller theaters in the city. The eighteen plaintiffs on the lawsuit range from directors, to actors and producers.
