Actors unions move closer to reaching merger agreement
The Screen Actors Guild says that they are expecting to complete a merger with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists by the end of January. The plan is expected to be completed by January 22, and will include a new constitution and dues structure for the combined unions. The plan will need to be ratified by members of both unions. Two previous merger attempts have failed, but both sides say that they are committed to making this merger work. The two groups have yet to agree on a new name.
