Actors unions ratify new contract
Members of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists have ratified a new three-year contract with film and TV producers. The contract includes a 9% pay raise over three years, provides more money for health and pension plans, and gives greater protections to stunt actors and extras. Actors voted by mail and approximately 35,000 of the 200,000 members cast ballots. The contract was approved by a wide margin, but critics claim the agreement did not secure a large enough share of DVD residuals.
