ADP Says U.S. Companies Added 201,000 Workers In August
A new survey found that the private sector added 201,000 workers in August, higher than expected. The increase comes after 173,000 jobs were created in July, and is larger than the 140,000 forecasted by economists. An increase in jobs could help to raise wages and spending, two things necessary for the economy to recover. A report from the Labor Department also showed that unemployment claims fell last week, to the lowest number in a month. The numbers do not reflect the public sector, and the Labor Department report is expected to be lower.
