ADP: US companies add just 130K jobs in October
Payroll processor, ADP, released a report Wednesday stating that 145,000 jobs were added in September, far below previous reports of 166,000. September?s jobs-added number was still higher than October?s at 130,000. The main reason the report stated for the decline was the shutdown of the federal government which stymied hiring of government contractors. ADP only surveys only private employers and so the hiring numbers are expected to differ from the Department of Labor?s reports. As a corollary, the report cites that presently the US is experiencing the lowest labor participation rate in over 35-years.
