AFL-CIO mobilizing veterans to oppose McCain
The AFL-CIO is mobilizing war veterans in an effort to oppose Republican presidential candidate John McCain and other politicians. The labor organization, who endorsed Barack Obama recently, will create councils of union veterans in states identified as key in the November 2008 election. The AFL-CIO has also launched an advertisement that features veterans opposed to McCain in key battleground states. The union estimates that it has about 2.1 million members who were or are currently veterans.
