Air Canada flight attendants approve strike mandate
Flight attendants at Air Canada have overwhelmingly approved a strike mandate, with 99.7% voting in favor, raising the possibility of job action as early as mid-August. The Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents over 10,000 flight attendants at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, says negotiations with the airline reached an impasse in July. The main sticking point is compensation for time spent working on the ground, not just in the air. Air Canada says it remains committed to reaching a fair deal and believes there is still time to avoid travel disruptions.
