Air Canada wins final union backing of pension request
On Thursday, the Canadian Auto Workers union said that it was supporting Air Canada's request for relief on its pension deficit. The CAW was the last union at the airline to give its approval, and the CAW said that they had little choice, since the airline had no other way to make the payments that it owes. The government had said that they would only consider the plan if current and retired employees supported the plan. The airline said that it was happy the CAW had decided to support the proposal.
