Airline Mexicana Suspends Ticket Sales As Union Talks Drag On
The Compania Mexicana de Aviacion stopped selling tickets at 7 pm on Wednesday, in an effort to pressure unions to cave to the airline's demands. The airline wants to cut crew staffing by forty percent, cut pilots' wages by 41% and cut fight attendants' wages by 39%. Unions have rejected the demands. The airline said that it needs the cuts to become financially viable after losing business due to the recession and the H1N1 outbreak. Three of the airline's planes were grounded last week by the company's creditors.
