Airline Unions Seek a Share of the Industry Gains
As the airline industry begins to profit again, employees are asking to share in the profits. After giving back benefits and wage increases and making concessions to help save the airlines, workers say that they will negotiate for higher wages and benefits in their contract negotiations. Many are watching the United-Continental negotiations with their newly combined employees as a signal of where negotiations are heading. The airlines and unions are also paying close attention to the outcome of the union elections for Delta workers, who have traditionally been the least organized in the industry. Many contracts for airlines have or are coming up for negotiations
