AK Steel Union Workers Reject Contract
AK Steel union workers voted Monday to reject what the company called its final contract offer, extending the seven-month-old standoff at the Middletown Works plant. Machinists union local president Brian Daley said the contract was rejected "substantially" but didn't immediately release vote numbers. Most union workers were concerned about what they saw as loopholes favoring the company and that they distrusted much of the proposal, thinking that their jobs would not be secure, Daley said.
