Amazon employees worry about their safety after a warehouse collapse
After devastating tornadoes ripped through Edwardsville, Illinois, Amazon employees are speaking out about the controversial return of a mobile phone ban. During the tornadoes, an Amazon warehouse collapsed killing at least six employees. Amazon staffers are expressing their concern that banning phones leaves employees incapable of calling for help or accessing information about imminent storms or other dangerous conditions. One worker said after this, “everyone is afraid of not being able to keep their phones on them.” The Warehouse Workers for Justice said in a statement “while natural disasters are not controllable, Amazon's preparedness and safety protocols are.”
