Amazon faces criticism for firing organizer
Chris Smalls led a strike on Monday at an Amazon warehouse in Staten Island. Smalls was allegedly fired for violating quarantine, however he believes he was fired for organizing the aforementioned protest. New York state elected officials and a number of labor leaders have come forward and chastised Amazon for wrongly firing Smalls. Additionally, the NLRB has been notified of the firing and encouraged to investigate Smalls' case. A number of coronavirus cases have occurred in Amazon facilities across the country and leaders have raised concerns over how the firm is handling threats to workers' safety.
