Amazon introduces a new robot to its warehouses, claiming it will help create more jobs
Amazon recently introduced a new robot, called Sparrow, to its warehouses that will be able to do the work of hundreds of thousands of employees once it is fully released next year. However, Amazon argues that rather than ending human-filled job positions, the robot will help create new jobs. Additionally, robots could help Amazon resolve its current unionization issues in its warehouses where workers are demanding higher wages. While there is evidence that this increase in robotics will not necessarily displace people from their jobs, it may potentially cause wage stagnation by lowering the skill requirements of associated jobs.
