Amazon workers vote to reject union at Albany, NY warehouse location
In Albany, New York, workers at an Amazon warehouse facility had been working to organize to obtain higher wages and safer work conditions amidst increasing injury rates and employee burnout. However, on Tuesday, the union votes were counted, and the overwhelming majority of workers voted against unionization. This outcome is a major loss for the recently formed Amazon Labor Union (ALU) which only represents one Amazon location where contract negotiations have been stalled by a legal battle over the legitimacy of that union vote. The ALU has already filed a series of unfair labor practice charges against Amazon for intimidation and retaliation tactics in the Albany union vote.
