American Airlines and United Airlines flight attendants may take strike action if contract agreements aren’t reached
Pilots who fly for Delta Airlines, United Airlines, and American Airlines won new contracts this year, and the contracts will raise pilot salaries. Contract negotiations were intense and time-consuming between these major airlines and the Air Line Pilots Association, the union that represents pilots at Delta Airlines and United Airlines, and the Allied Pilots Association, the union that represents American Airlines. Due to these negotiations, airlines did not have enough time and resources to negotiate new contracts with flight attendants as well. These airlines have pushed contracts with flight attendants to next year. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants represents flight attendants who work at American Airlines and will have contract negotiations with the Airline on December 12th, 13th, and 14th. The negotiations between the two parties will be mediated by The National Mediation Board, and the union has previously requested to be released from mediation. If the union files another request and the request is granted, American Airlines flight attendants will be able to take strike action. United Airlines flight attendants are planning to go on strike December on14th.
