American Airlines workers face pension plight
About 130,000 American Airlines employees, along with retired workers, are facing uncertainty about their pensions after the airline filed for bankruptcy. The airline has not announced its plans regarding pensions, but they are estimated to be underfunded by about $10 billion. The company says that the expense of their benefit plans are a factor when deciding what to do. While some of the pensions will be protected, employees and retirees could lose around a $1 billion.
