American Crystal and locked-out workers to restart contract talks
After a ten month lockout, American Crystal Sugar will meet with its workers for the fourth time. The hope is that the talks, conducted with a federal mediator, will lead to negotiations restarting. About 1,300 workers are locked out at five factories, and many will stop receiving unemployment in the next few weeks. The company has hired temporary replacements to continue running the plant. The company says that it will not change its final offer, but the unions say that they will continue to try to negotiate.
