Amid Criticism, Wal-Mart Gives Promotions to 25k Employees
Wal-Mart will try to send the message of economic security to its employees today as it begins promoting 25,000 of them. All of the promotions will be from the company?s hourly population. These promotions are taking place in addition to the tens of thousands of employees that Wal-Mart had promised earlier this year to move from part-time and temporary positions into full-time roles. By contrast, 63% of the world?s largest retailer make less than $25,000 annually. This number includes full- and part-time workers, but Wal-Mart stated that a majority of its 1.3 million employees are in full-time positions.
