Amidst mass layoffs in the tech industry and efficiency goals, further considerations arise regarding artificial intelligence in the workplace
Recent mass layoffs in the tech industry and growth of artificial intelligence have brought about the first structural shift to the industry. Companies have been reducing their workforces to become more efficient which has opened conversations surrounding the use of AI to replace human tech jobs. Furthermore, advances continue to be made with artificial intelligence, as GPT-4 was released recently released coincidentally on the same day Meta announced another wave of layoffs and its commitment to advancing AI within its products. Those in favor of artificial intelligence in the workplace claim that it will help make workers more efficient; but those in opposition claim that it will instead displace jobs.
