An overview of the recent labor policies passed in California
Recently, there have been major policy changes occurring in California affecting labor. This week, a bill that would allow farmworkers to cast their union votes by mail will be crossing Governor Newsom's desk. Farmworkers marched across California in August in support of the bill, and if passed the bill would improve access to unionization voting for farmworkers. Earlier this week, legislation aimed to improve conditions for fast-food workers was passed and marks the beginning of sector-wide collective bargaining. Other influential policies are also being enacted in California such as zero-emissions standards and a bill to protect children's privacy online.
