Various unions in Finland pledge to take strike action to protest new government reforms
Unions in Finland had pledged to strike on the first two days in February, and the proposed strike action will shut down commercial air traffic in Finland. The strike is in response to Finnish government labor market reforms, and unions have stated that the strike action is not against employers. Instead, the strike action is to protest against the government changes, with one of the major changes affecting the collective bargaining negotiation rules in the country. One of the major unions participating is the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors, and the union represents over 165,000 employees. Various other unions are also planning to take strike action in February, with the planned walkouts targeting specific industries, including the retail and hospitality sectors.
