Anti-union workers sue Volkswagen, UAW over Tennessee plant
Three workers from the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee who were against the union filed suit on Wednesday in a U.S. District Court seeking to bar any revote regarding representation of the workforce by the UAW. The suit claims that the employer gave the potential union a ?thing of value? during the campaign by allowing the union access to its workers on company property and during working hours. Under the Labor Management Relations Act, employers are prevented from paying or delivering ?thing[s] of value? to any union who represents or may in the future represent their employees. The anti-union workers filing the suit go on to say they are ?seeking to prevent further VW assistance to the UAW?s organizing efforts.? UAW President, Bob King, said that the National Right to Work Legal Foundation has filed similar frivolous lawsuits before to keep workers out of the union.
