Apple announces layoffs and cancellation of electric vehicle project
Hundreds of workers at Apple will be affected by upcoming layoffs, after the company announced job cuts to eight different office locations in Santa Clara, California. The layoffs will be in effect beginning in late May and will affect over six hundred workers, according to the WARN Notice that Apple filed. Federal law requires companies to file a WARN notice, a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, if a large number of employees will be laid off. Another major change Apple recently announced was that the company would be shutting down its plans to design electric vehicles. The company will be shifting its focus to the development of Artificial Intelligence products.
