Apple workers in NYC demand a $30 minimum wage
On Monday, workers hoping to unionize at Apple's Grand Central Terminal store in New York City posted to their website demands for a $30 an hour minimum wage. They said, “For pay, we seek a minimum $30 for all workers, built up on a matrix based on role, tenure, and performance.” To file for a vote with the NLRB, organizers will need to collect authorization cards from 30% of about 270 eligible employees. The Washington Post reports that Apple employees currently can make from $17 to more than $30 per hour.
