Art-handling company accused of retaliation
Art-handling firm UOVO has been accused of retaliating against employees who participated in a recent organization effort. Teamsters Local 814 has filed charges with the NLRB against the company, alleging that the firm fired employees who engaged in unionization efforts while allowing non-organizing employees paid leave. A union organizer has stated that the layoffs seem to be an attempt to get rid of employees attempting to unionize, which is a direct violation of labor law. In response the firm has stated that union support, or lack thereof, was a not a factor in the decision to terminate the employment of a number of workers.
