As Coding Boot Camps Close, the Field Faces a Reality Check
The boom times for coding boot camps may be coming to a close as two schools with major backers have shut down in recent months, citing an inability to establish sustainable business models. Dev Bootcamp, recently bought by Kaplan, and The Iron Yard, backed by the Apollo Education Group, are both shutting down this year. The coding boot camp industry has swelled to some 90 schools since 2013, but the remaining programs are now being forced to reevaluate their programming and market viability.
