As companies push back against unionization efforts, workers claim store closures are being used as a union-busting tactic
Recently, workers have claimed that one of the tactics companies are using to thwart unionization efforts is closing down pro-union store locations. This allegation is not specific to one company, as workers at G&D Integrated have expressed unfair closures, and earlier this week the NLRB ruled that the Starbucks store closing in Ithaca, New York violated labor laws. There has been a surge in filings with the NLRB this year for retaliatory store closures, and overall, unfair labor practice complaints have been on the rise as well. However, many companies have been citing economic reasons for these shutdowns due to the current financial pressures.
