As Japan PM Abe weighs labor reform, IBM emerges as test case
The computer manufacturing giant IBM is being sued by a group of Tokyo workers for allegations of wrongful termination. The group of workers were let go from the company as part of the new president of technology?s restructuring plan to hold workers accountable for performance; an idea that has yet to permeate the Japanese workforce where the most sought after jobs usually ensure lifetime employment. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hopes to move the country towards a more flexible employment system in the coming years that will encourage growth in the country.
