As Tech Booms, Workers Turn to Coding for Career Change
Large technology companies such as Google and Facebook are obvious employers for software engineers and data analysts, but an increasing number of companies are seeking ways to improve productivity, lower costs and increase digital presence by hiring employees who have advanced coding skills, prompting many job seekers to master advanced technology tools. TechHire, a White House initiative introduced in March, seeks to coordinate efforts by businesses, schools, and the government to train workers for jobs in the technology sector. “Coding schools” such as Galvanize, Flatiron School and Hack Reactor offer rapid instruction programs to prepare students for well-paying technology positions.
