As the number of older workers in the labor force grows, job openings are not keeping pace
While the job report for December has revealed a continued strong labor market, this is not exactly the case for older workers. The unemployment rate rose for older workers, who as a group constitute the largest and fastest growing demographic in the US labor force. Despite new jobs being added to the economy, the volume of these openings is not meeting the large supply of older workers looking for work.
