As Walmart Gives Raises, Other Employees May Have to Go Above Minimum Wage
Walmart plans to put a wage floor of $9 for its 1.3 million U.S. workers this year. This wage will increase to $10 in 2016, leaving it well above the current federal minimum wage of $7.25. These wage increases will cost the company close to $1 billion a year. The company has estimated that each employee contributes approximately $5,938 in profits for the company.
